Well, I wanted my 50th post to be something cool.
Too bad, I guess.
From a phone conversation with my mom:
"Did you know your dad had surgery?"
The scary thing is, my answer was "No."
This has happened three times to my husband, as well.
From what we can gather, it was a minor procedure and my dad's okay. My sister stayed with him and took him to the hospital and all that. Although we know few details, we are working on the assumption that everything's fine.
Not that anyone would tell us if that weren't the case.
If you don't feel that you are possibly on the edge of humiliating yourself, of losing control of the whole thing, then possibly what you are doing isn't very vital. If you don't feel like you are writing somewhat over your head, why do it? If you don't have some doubt of your authority to tell this story, then you are not trying to tell enough. --John Irving
