A First

Going to my very first writer's conference this weekend, and leaving in less than six hours.

I'm going to get a book signed by Joyce Carol Oates.

I'm going to pitch my book to an editor.

And I'm going to learn lots of stuff, and have lots of fun.

Wish me luck!

  1. I read about this conference just recently ;). Hope you're not staying at the hotel where it's held; it's a real dump. But there are very nice ones near it.

If you're interested, I'd love to have you write up a little something about it for Toasted Cheese, if you have the free time. We're always looking for articles and one on "what happens at a writers conference" would be lovely. No pay but a credit. Lemme know if you're interested ;)

If you don't feel that you are possibly on the edge of humiliating yourself, of losing control of the whole thing, then possibly what you are doing isn't very vital. If you don't feel like you are writing somewhat over your head, why do it? If you don't have some doubt of your authority to tell this story, then you are not trying to tell enough. --John Irving
